In 2017 Affinity Collective announces new artistic collaborations and begins their next cycle project with seven performances of the Complete String Quartets of Leoš Janáček and Pavel Haas. Affinity Trio programs will feature repertoire by Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, and Dohnányi.

Winners of the 2015 Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) Chamber Music Competition, Affinity Collective represents the next generation of Australian chamber music. Their 2015 inaugural concert season featured new music by Australian composer Jack Symonds. 2016 marked their European debut, with participation in the 2016 Prussia Cove International Musicians Seminar and nine Affinity Collective concerts in the UK and Germany. Also in 2016, they performed an Australian première of The Complete String Quartets by Benjamin Britten and Andrzej Panufnik.

‘This group of young musicians has a collective wisdom and maturity which is singularly impressive… Affinity Collective is a musical force with which to be reckoned.’ (Richard Gill OAM)

Winners of the 2015 Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) Chamber Music Competition, Affinity Collective represents the next generation of Australian chamber music. Their inaugural concert season presented world premières by Australian composer, Jack Symonds, alongside related European repertoire from the past century. Also in 2015 Affinity initiated their Open Rehearsal and Home Recital Series in which they share the groundwork of their concerts.

In May last year Affinity Quartet returned from a European tour assisted by the Australia Council for the Arts and private donations via the Australian Cultural Fund. They performed at the Prussia Cove International Musicians Seminar in the class of Thomas Adès, and participated in mentorship programs in London with the Brodsky, Doric and Belcea Quartets. Six London concerts included one at the Southbank Centre. The quartet undertook further mentorships in Germany with Brett Dean, Noga and Kuss Quartets, and gave two concerts, one performing Dean’s Epitaphs with the composer himself. On their return, Affinity performed an Australian première of the complete string quartets of Benjamin Britten and Andrzej Panufnik.

In 2017 Affinity announces new artistic collaborations and tours Victoria, Tasmania and NSW with the Complete String Quartets of Leoš Janáček and Pavel Haas.

Affinity Collective musicians have played with the Australian Chamber Orchestra Collective, Sydney Chamber Opera, ACO Inspire Quartet, Berlin Philharmoniker, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Play On, Victorian Opera and as casual and contract musicians with Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Individually, in 2015 and 2016 they were finalists and prize-winners in the ANAM Concerto Competition, Symphony Australia ABC Young Performers Awards, and Kendall National Violin Competition.
