Since 1999, the mission of the Adelaide Festival of Ideas (AFoI) has been to celebrate the life of the mind: big ideas, fresh thinking and innovation as the foundations of civil society, an informed and resilient democracy, a robust economy, and an authentic reflection of Adelaide’s culture in the local, national and international arenas.
The 2016 AFoI delivered a brilliant program of world-class thought leadership. With 43 events and over 15,000 attendances, guests included national treasures Phillip Adams and Barry Jones, as well as environmentalist, Erin Brockovich, and Jeffrey Bleich, former US Ambassador to Australia. We want to do it all again in 2018, this time in the crisp, clear light of July, our original place on the Adelaide cultural calendar.
Adelaide Festival of Ideas Inc. is a volunteer not-for-profit group committed to ensuring this brilliant event supports a future-facing active citizenry. The AFoI enjoys immense community support and prestige, not only for its content, but for its accessibility, organisation and inclusiveness. We will build on the success of the Adelaide Festival of Ideas 1999 – 2016 and welcome your contribution to the future of the AFoI. The AFOI Future Fund will support the realisation of the AFOI as a mid-year event in 2018.
Your support for the AFoI Future Fund will enable us to:
• secure local and global thought leaders to ensure we are always at the emerging horizons of thought leadership, and
• reach even more citizens via social media, our website, and our unique digital archive of past events, including audio recordings of nearly all our presentations.
