2020 Macedon Ranges Music Festival

An important fundraising community festival in the Macedon Ranges helping to provide educational opportunities for children in rural Cambodia through the Cambodian Kids Foundation

Days Left

Having grown from a jam session in a backyard in Gisborne, the 8th annual Macedon Ranges Music Festival (MRMF) will be again taking place in Gisborne, Victoria on March 14th, 2020. The Festival is a one-day event that brings together 2 stages of live music, delicious local beer, wine & cider, creative food & market stalls and a bunch of kids activities.

Since its inception in 2013, the family friendly festival has raised important funds for the Cambodian Kids Foundation (CKF) and proudly donates 100% of ticket sales. CKF operates a small school in a rural Cambodian village through which they provide educational opportunities for children, give general health care to students and their families and employ local teachers. The Foundation also runs a day spa in Cambodia’s capital city which employs and gives training to women.

The Festival continues to be 100% volunteer run and engages many community groups to make the event possible.

100% of your donation goes directly to covering the costs of putting this event on. These costs include stage hire, production hire, toilets, security, insurances and artist fees. Your donation, combined with sponsorships from local businesses makes it possible for us to donate 100% of ticket sales to CKF.

Your donation allows us to continue to provide an inclusive, feel-good event that reaps benefits for both our community in the Macedon Ranges and provides opportunities for children and communities in rural Cambodia.

The annual Macedon Ranges Music Festival (MRMF) is an event that began in a backyard in Gisborne, Victoria in 2013. Inspired to raise money for a special charity and have a good time along the way, some local families called in their musical mates to perform for friends on a laid back afternoon. They compiled whatever equipment they could to produce a makeshift sound system to complement their handmade temporary stage and the festival was born.

The festival eventually grew out of the backyard in 2016 and now takes place at the Gisborne Steam Park. Despite its growth, the event is still entirely volunteer-run and continues to proudly donate 100% of its ticket sales directly to the non-profit organisation, Cambodian Kids Foundation (CKF). Over $40,000 has been raised over the festival’s journey. The festival now also brings three local sideshows to music venues of the Macedon Ranges in the three weeks prior to the festival. These sideshows have proven to be popular with local acts performing in intimate local venues. The festival is all about celebrating great music, people, food and drinks all for an incredible cause.

So that’s our story so far, and it’s only just beginning!
