Last week marked National Reconciliation Week (NRW), with the theme ‘Now More Than Ever.’ In this month’s spotlight, we look to First Nations projects that are exploring and sharing history, culture, and stories.
“Bridge”, from Ngioka Bunda-Heath, is a contemporary dance work exploring Indigenous experiences through personal letters written by the dancers. The project aims to amplify Indigenous voices and stories, creating a cultural exchange and understanding.
Donations will be used to remount “Bridge” at the Indigenous World Dance Residency at Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity.
“Voices of Women” holds a mirror to Australia with a cross-cultural script and live show by First Nations and diverse women across the Riverina, unveiling heartfelt narratives, probing dramatic pasts and painting a vision for our collective future.
Donations will pay for the costs of community engagement and the production costs of the powerful Sydney and Riverina shows
Zhanae Dodd, a proud Aboriginal woman (Ghungalu, Wadja, Birri, Widi/Wiri and Kaanju) from regional Queensland, has been granted the opportunity to study acting at the renowned American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City.
Donations will help cover travel, tuition and study costs.
