Matthew has been involved in all aspects of theatre, including stage managing, producing and directing, for almost thirteen years now.
In 2012, Matthew stage managed Emily Steel’s award-winning plays, Sepia and Rocket Town. In 2016, he produced and directed The Angel of Death, The Sentient Arrow and the Australian Premiere of Trey Parker’s Cannibal! The Musical.
In 2017, Matthew produced and directed Scarred For Life by emerging songwriter and performer, Josh Belperio, who received a $2,100 Helpmann Academy Grant to be mentored by award-winning cabaret artists, Michael Griffiths and Amelia Ryan. Scarred For Life most recently won the Week 3 BankSA Best Cabaret Award at the 2018 Adelaide Fringe. Matthew was also the co-producer of the music video and song, Dear Malcolm Turnbull, to raise money for QLife, a free and anonymous national phone and web chat counselling service for LGBTQI+ people.
In 2018, Matthew curated 12 shows for the Adelaide Fringe in a new venue called The Lab. Besides Matthew’s theatre experience, he currently works as a Research Associate at The University of South Australia in the field of Proteomics and Glycomics.
