The Southern Highlands Gallery at Retford Park working committee (SHGRP), officially formed in February 2019, and we present a rare opportunity to create bold, state-of-the-art, cultural infrastructure in the heart of the Southern Highlands, NSW. On Gundungurra Land and in partnership with the National Trust, the State Government and the Wingecarribee Shire Council, we present a project that will see the establishment of the very first regional gallery in the history of the Southern Highlands.
This exciting initiative led by a small team, will respond to a long term community demand. We have a unique opportunity to achieve something important, of impact, of meaning and to the betterment of the local community and beyond.
Our project involves the sustainable adaptive reuse of an old Dairy Building and associated Veterinary Clinic Building, located on the National Trust owned Retford Park Estate. These historical landmarks will be transformed into a state-of-the-art Regional Gallery with adjoining cafe. The proposed gallery is intended to be a not-for-profit cultural initiative that provides a variety of exhibition spaces and arts programs.
