SafARI is an unofficial fringe exhibition to the Biennale of Sydney, showcasing the work of emerging, unrepresented, and unpublished creative practitioners from around Australia.
SafARI presents a platform for a cutting edge, dynamic, and socially engaged series of events and projects that critically examine the emergent arts practices of Australia today. In 2016, we are pleased to offer diverse conversations across multiple venues both online with a national focus, and locally, around Sydney’s inner suburbs of Kings Cross and Redfern.
For twelve years SafARI has provided Sydneysiders, as well as Australian and international audiences of the Biennale of Sydney the chance to examine the alternative offerings of the local arts community.
If the Biennale shows where contemporary art is at, SafARI examines where it all began. The team at SafARI HQ are excited to present SafARI 2016 by continuing to work with practitioners to help develop new artwork, foster dialogue, and encourage professional practice opportunities for the artists, arts workers, and artist-run spaces of Australia.
