Dr Ruth Skilbeck is an author, artist and arts historian who has wide experience as a freelance journalist specializing in arts and culture, in Ireland, England and Australia. She holds a PhD and MA in Writing from the University of Technology, Sydney, and a BA Honours in Philosophy from the University of London. She is the author of several books: literary fugue historical studies, fugue fiction novels, and new artist books published in 2019. Her grants include an Australia Council for the Arts (Visual Arts) New Work grant, a UTS doctoral scholarship and several university grants to present her work at international conferences, and she was a Chief Investigator on a multi university team grant researching cultural tourism in NSW and Victoria (her case study was on the Art Gallery of NSW). Her arts journalism, arts and cultural research essays and photographs are published in peer-reviewed journals, national arts periodicals, and newspapers. She founded Arts Features International as an arts writing and cultural research consultancy in Sydney in 2003, and has revived it as a literary arts journal, which she is editing, whilst also pursuing her novel writing, arts and history projects.
