Queensland Poetry Festival (QPF) is an independent festival & arts organisation celebrating its 20th year. We exist to support, cultivate, and promote a vibrant poetry and oral storytelling culture in Queensland.
QPF is made up of creative individuals passionate about inspiring, entertaining, challenging, and bringing poetry in all its forms to a wide audience. We work with individuals, artists, schools, multicultural & Indigenous communities, and arts organisations to promote QLD poetry.
QPF embraces and encourages the wide possibility of poetic expression in all of its forms – page poetry, readings, slam, spoken word, performance, music, ekphrastic, collaboration, installation, cross-platform, film, and more. QPF is the finest spoken word festival in the country, an important part of Australia’s literary calendar with an established reputation for excellence and innovation amongst audience, artists and industry worldwide.
With an annual 4-day festival held in the last week in August, QPF also curates & administers satellite events throughout the year including COUPLET salon, Arts Queensland Poetry Awards, Arts Queensland Poet in Residence, Indigenous Poet in Residence, Brisbane Poetry Map, SlammED! and Australian Poetry Slam – QLD.
