We want to change the world, one personalised encounter at a time.

Employing an expanded notion of theatre, we create nationally and internationally regarded works that allow audience-participants to see the world and others afresh.

ONE STEP AT A TIME LIKE THIS is a long term collaborative ensemble of 4 Melbourne contemporary theatre artists

– Suzanne Kersten – Clair Korobacz – Julian Rickert – Sharon Thompson –

Since 2007, they have been creating works for small audiences.

An emphasis on engagement and reflection rather than spectacle allows participants to activate their own thoughts and feelings as creative elements in the work.

In an increasingly mediated world, our audience can experience that their live presence matters, leading toward a more engaged and particularised experience of both live theatre and life lived.

One step has been commissioned to create works for London 2012 Olympic Cultural Festival, Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Dublin Theatre Festival, Melbourne Festival, Arts Centre Melbourne, Arts House and City of Melbourne.

The US premiere of ‘en route’ was no. 4 in Chicago Tribune’s Top 10 shows of 2011, and was the subject of an Emmy Award winning documentary made by WTTW Chicago.

In 2014 one step’s critically acclaimed ‘Since I Suppose’ was selected by the American Theatre Wing (Tony Awards) for a ‘making of’ documentary as part of its Latest Trends in Theatre series.

One step works have received several awards including the Adelaide Fringe Best Production Award for ‘en route’ in 2010 and a number of Green Room awards.
