Melissa is a writer and devisor for theatre and screen. Her solo writing credits include the full-length plays “TickTickBoom” (2015), which won the inaugural Silver Gull Play Award, and “All Echoes End” (2016) supported by Playwriting Australia and Performance 4a’s Lotus First Draft program.
She also regularly collaborates on devised theatre works, including “Machine” (2014) and “Decay” (2015) with Eclective Productions at The Old 505 Theatre, “And Now To Bed” (2015) with subtlenuance at the Kings Cross Hotel, and “Trade” (2016) with Hurrah Hurrah at Leichardt Town Hall Site and Sound Festival and Crack Theatre Festival.
Her poetry has been performed as part of the Sydney Writers Festival (“Intersections” with Simon Barker in 2013). In 2015 she was an Associate Artist with Rock Surfers Theatre Company.
She is a recent graduate of NIDA (Playwriting, 2011) and a current student of AFTRS (TV Screenwriting). Her practice is divided between “traditional” text-based, writer-driven plays and experimental, collaboratively-devised work incorporating movement, technology and whatever happens to be handy.
