My practice originated in the celebration of dance and cultural expression, and over 20 years I’ve developed a highly respected producing practice of diverse aesthetics, cross-cultural exchange & collaboration.
Kath Papas Productions engages diverse artists, collectives & companies – whose work intersects with the burning issues of representation, gender, sexuality, spirituality, extinction and climate.
My practice springs from our role and geographic location within the Asia Pacific. I have taken Victorian artists & collaborations to Korea, Japan, China, Malaysia, Indonesia and South America. My work with independent artists and companies includes Yumi Umiumare, Sandra Fiona Long & Mainteater, Kate Hunter, & acclaimed indies Finucane & Smith Unlimited. With F&S, for over a decade, I have worked across all aspects in the company’s work addressing freedom, hope, humanity, justice & environment. Recent highlights include Finucane’s award-winning The Rapture: Art vs Extinction series (Berlin, Prague Quadrennial, Denmark, USA, Slovenia), Dance Hall & Exotic Lives of Lola Montez.
