Harriet McKern

• Harriet is currently developing projects as an independent director working in drama and documentary. Prior to this she has had over 20 years experience across a range of roles including General Manager of the Australian Directors Guild as well as Coordinator of the prestigious feature film development workshop, Aurora run by FTO now Create NSW. On this program she worked with advisors like Jane Campion, Lynne Ramsay and Gus Van Sant to assist the work of local filmmakers such as Cate Shortland, David Michod, Catriona McKenzie and Jennifer Kent. In 2012 – 15 Harriet studied at IFSS now AFFT as a way of refocusing her own creative career. Her films have screened on TV and across the world at film festivals such as Flickerfest, Melbourne, Films de Femmes (France), Chicago (USA), Raindance and Encounters (UK). She has also exhibited as a visual artist, dabbled in acting and at six months old had her fifteen minutes of fame, sitting on John Lennon’s knee in a private jet. Harriet is co-organiser of the Screen Women Series II events celebrating and encouraging female talent in the industry.
