Gina Mercer enjoys a three-stranded career as an editor, writer, and teacher. She has taught creative writing and literature in universities and communities for 30 years. She was Editor of Island Magazine from 2006-2010. She has served as a Peer Assessor for the Australia Council’s Literature Board and Varuna, The Writers House. She mentors writers in various genres and provides manuscript assessments for the Tasmanian Writers Centre. She’s published eight books (poetry, fiction, and academic nonfiction). Her 3 latest books are: Weaving Nests with Smoke and Stone [Walleah Press, 2015]; The Dictionary of Water [Wild Element Press, forthcoming 2019] and The Sky Falls Down: An Anthology of Loss, co-edited with Terry Whitebeach [Ginninderra Press, June 2019].
