Australian violinist Flora Wong is a musician, educator and curator who is drawn to the intersections between different disciplines of artistic practice. Equally at home coaxing virtuosic Baroque figurations out of gut strings as she is punching out polyrhythms opposite a drum kit, she is fast becoming a go-to collaborator for new music and cross-genre projects in Brisbane (Turrbal/Jagera land).
Flora is a member of a number of Brisbane-based ensembles including new music septet Nonsemble, contemporary tango trio Tango Enigmático and the Helge Quartet. She is Assistant Artistic Director of contemporary classical concert series Dots+Loops, and producer and curator of Hidden Dome, a concert series that celebrates and advocates for diverse voices in the creative community.
She is an experienced music educator who lectures in contemporary violin at JMC Academy in Brisbane and runs a private teaching practice, and is also the QLD State Coordinator – Education for Musica Viva Australia.
