Dance for Parkinson’s Australia (DPA) offers specialised dance classes for people living with Parkinson’s Disease and their carers.

For people with Parkinson’s disease, rigorous dance classes led by trained professional teaching artists are internationally acknowledged as an important, beneficial and welcome addition to the portfolio of recognised, movement-based therapeutic interventions that are supported by published research.

Classes launched in Australia in 2013 and are now offered throughout Australia with the purpose of improving the quality of life for people living with Parkinson’s Disease while building positive arts connections.

DPA is a community centred organisation affiliated with Dance for PD in the United States. Partnerships and connections have been developed across the arts and health sectors and include the Sydney Opera House, Queensland Ballet, Belconnen Arts Centre, Ausdance, state Parkinson’s organisations, and leading neurologists and researchers.
