Byron Youth Theatre (BYT) was founded in 2010 by Director Lisa Apostolides as a not for profit collective, initially funded by Byron Youth Service (BYS) through a Federal Government grant tackling binge drinking at a local level.

Since then BYT have devised 11 major youth social action productions on prominent youth issues such as drink driving, illicit drug use, adolescent sexual health, mental health, domestic and family violence and most recently youth suicide prevention.

BYT have received funding from Country Arts Support Program, Regional Arts NSW (2013-2018), Northern River Community Foundation (2014-2017), NRMA Motoring and services, NORTEC Employment and Training services, WayAhead Mental Health Association of NSW ( 2014-2017), Northcott Fundability, NSW Health ( 2014-2017), Social Futures, Byron Council (2010-2017), Santos Organics, and Lions Club NSW.

They have delivered 125 performances and 90 workshops reaching a youth audience of approximately 6,500 and community audience of approximately 3,000.
