Creating community and connection through dance and art, Annette Carmichael Projects brings professional artists and community together to create extraordinary performances and exhibitions.
An award-winning choreographer and creative producer, Annette collaborates with sound designer James Gentle and regional artists – sculptors, painters, filmmakers, photographers and dance artists – to shape her productions. But it is the everyday people who make up the performance cast, and their personal transformations as they prepare to step on stage, that drives the work.
The Snake Run teamed local skaters with professional dance artists, and opened the Great Southern season of the Perth International Arts Festival to an audience of thousands in 2016.
Shortlisted in the 2018 Australian Dance Awards for The Beauty Index, Annette is currently creating Chorus. Calling for an end to violence against women, the work features 170 women from across regional and metropolitan WA.
Working from Denmark, Western Australia, Annette supports communities, local governments and performing arts centres across Australia to connect and create transformative arts experiences.
