I’m an emerging multidisciplinary artist based in Canberra. My practice investigates identity politics, with a focus on dissecting culture & gender. Born to a refugee mother, my practice is concerned with exploring the notion of authenticity, language, dislocation, connection & ownership of culture. I draw from my heritage as a Vietnamese-Australian to investigate these themes, examining the way our relationship to culture shifts over time. Working across photography, video, sculpture & installation, I focus on the experience of singular & collective identity, & the intersection of the personal & political.
Graduating from the ANU School of Art & Design in 2014 with a Bachelor of Visual Arts majoring in Photomedia, I incorporate photography into a diverse art practice. I have exhibited in solo & group exhibitions both in Canberra & interstate at galleries, namely Canberra Contemporary Art Space (ACT), AIRspace (NSW), Metro Arts (QLD), Nexus Arts (SA) & Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery (VIC). I have been a finalist in several prizes & awards such as the ‘Contemporary Art Awards’ (QLD) in 2018 & the ‘Inner North Art Prize’ (ACT) in 2016. In 2016 I won the ‘Yen Female Art Awards’ presented at gaffa (NSW).
