Alysha Herrmann is a proud parent, regional artist and advocate using performance and civic action to inspire individuals and communities to connect, reclaim and reinterpret their personal stories.
Alysha’s work evolves through conversations with people who think they don’t have interesting stories. Alysha then uses her skills as writer, theatre maker and cultural producer to turn those conversations into different kinds of artistic ‘things’. Theatre. Installations. Poetry. Words. Experiments. Experiences. Moments. Alysha has won numerous awards for her work using the arts to interrogate and explore community concerns and aspirations including most recently the 2014 Channel 9 Young Achiever Arts Award and was named by SA Life as one of SA’s fastest rising stars under 30.
Along the path less travelled, Alysha has been a high school drop out, teenage mum, single parent, waitress, sewing machinist, blogger, dishwasher, community facilitator, speaker and many other things in between.
Alysha is a 2010 Australia Council JUMP Alumni and her work has been performed, published and presented in SA, VIC, QLD, TAS and ACT.
She also tweets mini poems as @lylyee and blogs about creative life at http://alyshaherrmann.wordpress.com
